How would you recommend cleaning smoke stains from a York stone fireplace
Becki Linley, Head of Operations of Trendenza, a company which specialising in all aspects of interior refurbishment for homes and businesses including fireplace installation using bespoke stone types and limestone, advises the best way to clean smoke stains from a York Stone fireplace is to buff the area with a 40 grd (gradient) sandpaper, which can be purchased from your local hardware shop or DIY stores, to clean the area you will need to buff in a circular motion. You shouldn’t use water to try and clean the area as you must keep the area dry, as water will seep into the stone and cause staining.
